While we were saddened by the news that BET’s Chasing Destiny won’t be returning for a second season, Kelly Rowland’s protégées and divas-in-training, aka, June’s Diary are still on a roll.
After premiering their debut single “L.A.N.C.E,” the quintet has been hard at work in the studio while on the road with R. Kelly as the opening act for “The After Party Tour.” Interestingly enough, back in December the groups creative director Frank Gatson shared both disappoint and optimism about the ladies future, saying:
“When we get it right. There will be an EP. or Album…lance- did nothing. All of us-did nothing. Wrap around did nothing. Alright-did nothing. We need a hit song. Then we will release a EP. The girls are working hard to find a hit. They have done almost 100 songs. Touring with R kelly is getting Fan base up. Amen to that. Essence in July is a blessing. #blessed We must find a hit song. Send one if you have it. A lot of people don’t know who @Junesdiary is.”
Well, there hasn’t been an update on whether or not the gals got the hit that they’ve been praying for but they just dropped a track that’s pretty hot. Instead of an original track, they decided to put their spin on Jodeci’s “Stay.” Their ode is chockfull of warm harmonies and melodies that remind us why Rowland and Gatson fell in love with these ladies during the show.
